The 2025-2026 Coronado Islanders boys’ soccer team’s season has officially begun. In the Islanders’ opening match of the season, they provided their fans with a bit of thrills.

Behind a late goal from Geraldo Peralta , Coronado defeated the Canyon Hills Rattlers by a final score of 2-1.

“We were down early, but our heads never went down,” said Islanders Coach Jeff Roe . “We stayed in the game, stuck to our game plan, and executed when we had to.”

The Islanders’ season-opening victory was far from a perfect performance. For the first 20 minutes of Thursday’s match, Canyon Hills controlled possession and the tempo of the game. That control would allow them to take an early 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute.
