After losing to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, things are not looking great for the Kansas City Chiefs’ playoff hopes.
Through 12 games, they sit at 6-6. In a league where only the top seven teams in each conference make the playoffs, the Chiefs have the 10th best record in the AFC. The Chiefs don’t have the head-to-head tiebreaker against most of the teams they are chasing.
As of Monday, ESPN’s playoff projections have Kansas City’s chances of making the playoffs at just 42%. Not great.
With all of that being said, the Chiefs are a unique case. Despite their spot in the current standings, sportsbooks don’t want to open themselves to the liability of Chiefs’ Super Bowl futures. If the Chiefs can squeak into the playoffs, they have the pedigree to make a run.
