A shooting outside a home in the neighborhood of the El Paso Country Club involved two men who have known each other since junior high school, court documents stated.

Kevin Carl Welch, 60, is accused of popping out of bushes and shooting Peter Alan Rittmann, 59, on the morning of Nov. 23, though no potential motive was revealed in a criminal complaint affidavit filed by an El Paso police detective.

Welch denied shooting Rittmann when questioned by police, the affidavit stated. He is being represented by a public defense attorney unnamed in a court listing.
