MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A trial date has been set for Quinton Tellis, a Monroe man who is accused of stabbing and killing a ULM foreign exchange student in 2015.

Tellis appeared in court on Dec. 1, and a trial date was set for Jan. 5, more than a decade after Ming-Chen Hsiao was found dead.

Court records show Hsiao was found at 402 Filhiol Ave. on Aug. 8, 2015, with more than 30 wounds from a sharp object. Investigators said they believe she was tortured and then stabbed to death on or about July 29, 2015.

MPD said that within days of Hsiao’s death, several hundred dollars were taken from her bank accounts. In October 2015, Tellis was arrested on one count of unauthorized use of an access card and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
