LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – City officials say road crews will be out through the evening and overnight hours as temperatures fall and the risk of refreezing increases.

According to a release from the City of Lexington, Streets & Roads and Water Quality teams spent Tuesday treating neighborhood roads included in the city’s snow plan. Several day-shift crews will remain on duty until 8 p.m. to take care of any trouble spots, while overnight crews will handle calls through 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Even though Tuesday’s precipitation wrapped up early, officials warn that roads could refreeze once temperatures drop, creating black ice — especially on bridges, overpasses and untreated pavement. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution.
