The makers of Old Bay packaged the seasoning in iconic tin containers starting in the 1930s. In 2017, they switched to plastic.

They’re going back to tin, McCormick and Company announced, saying the return would come “just tin time.”

News4 visited Bethesda Crab House, which serves crabs year-round.

“I’m an old school guy, so, the cans seemed the right way to go,” Yen Lee, the general manager, said. “When they went to the plastic, I was not too enthused.”

Some diehard Old Bay fans say the plastic containers changed the flavor. And the tins often got repurposed into crafts and Christmas decorations.
