COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus City Schools’ Board of Education could vote Tuesday on how it plans to make $50 million in cuts.
At the board’s Nov. 18 meeting, Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman shared the recommendations that included cutting transportation for some students, consolidating and closing some school buildings and cutting nearly 450 staff positions.
“My biggest concern is how this might affect special education,” said Susan Cavendish, a West Broad Elementary parent. “My son is receiving special education because he's autistic.”
10TV talked with Cavendish during the district’s last round of building closures. West Broad is still slated to close, but on the condition that the board secures money to build a new school on the same site.
