Longmont will launch snow and ice control operations on Wednesday in preparation for deteriorating weather conditions. The city is expecting around one to three inches of new snow, with the snowfall expected to begin after midnight and continue through Wednesday morning, according to a city winter weather alert.
Accordingly, most Longmont property owners are required by municipal code to remove snow and ice from the public sidewalk adjacent to their property. The code states that residents have “24 hours after any snow or ice stops falling” to clear their respective sidewalks.
It applies to: “…every owner and manager of property abutting the sidewalk; every tenant leasing an entire premises abutting the sidewalk; and every adult occupant of a single-family dwelling abutting the sidewalk
