EAST LANSING – Michigan State has a new football coach in Pat Fitzgerald and terms of his deal are now public.
Fitzgerald, who was hired on Monday and officially introduced on Tuesday, agreed to a five-year deal worth at least $30 million total and is heavy on incentives.
Fitzgerald’s annual base salary will be $4 million each of the five seasons with supplemental pay that will increase by $500,000 annually – from $1 million in 2026 to $3 million in 2030. That would bring his total compensation to $7 million in the final year of the deal, which would tie him with Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck for 12 th in the Big Ten and 31 st in the nation, according to the USATODAY database.
