Excused in-person absentee voting to fill a vacant Kentucky state Senate seat will open Dec. 3, according to a Dec. 2 release from the Jefferson County Clerk's Office.
A special election planned for Dec. 16 was announced after David Yates was chosen to act as interim Jefferson County Clerk in October, vacating the District 37 seat. According to the release, excused in-person absentee voting will begin Dec. 3 for eligible residents in the district.
According to the State Board of Elections , residents can be eligible for excused in-person absentee voting if a person is a Kentucky resident who will be absent from their county at the time of election and no-excuse election days, temporarily resides outside of the state or has a medical procedure scheduled at the time of the election.
