LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

City crews are moving into the next phase of recovery after last month’s UPS plane crash that killed 14 people.

Starting Monday night, businesses along Melton and Able Avenue were allowed to resume third shift, a key step in reopening the area.

This comes after parts of Grade Lane reopened last week, and gas service was restored to 24 businesses.

“So it’s a really exciting update, and we were able to do that, and several of the businesses were able to take advantage of that last night. So we’re moving forward again. There’s still a lot of restoration with utilities that are taking place. There’s still, again, a lot of evidence on the ground. They’re getting into the areas where the majority of the aircraft is located, which is slowing that down,” said Mayor Craig Gree
