OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Ottumwa Regional Health Center has reopened its sleep lab after five years without the service, giving patients a local option for overnight sleep disorder testing.

“We’re very excited to be opened back up for our community here,” said Jodi Bixby of Ottumwa Regional Health Center. “We have offered home-sleep testing in the past, but it does not compare to overnight sleep testing because there are hundreds of disorders that can diagnosed from an overnight sleep test.”

Sleep technologists say a full overnight study gives patients a complete picture of what’s happening while resting.

The Somnitech testing can diagnose common sleep disorders like sleep apnea and narcolepsy.
