SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Myopia or nearsightedness is a common vision problem that often begins between the ages of 6 and 14. Contacts or glasses can usually correct it, but new specialized lenses offer hope for slowing the condition’s progression in children.
Dr. Chris Boschen at the Sunshine Eye Clinic has treated many cases of nearsightedness since he began practicing in 2012. Although he sees it in adults, it’s a problem for kids as well.
“Statistics show us that they’re likely to become more nearsighted as they continue to grow and develop. Some projections estimate that worldwide, nearly half of the population will be nearsighted by the year 2050,” Boschen said.
Boschen said on top of today’s contacts and glasses to correct vision, new options are opening up to address nearsighted
