A small dog named Coulee was rescued after becoming trapped in a narrow, 12-inch crevice about 20 feet deep in the Roslyn area on Monday.

The 30-pound dog’s retrieval brought together multiple local organizations and a coordinated rescue effort.

Rescue teams, including Washington State Animal Response Team (WASART) and Kittitas Search and Rescue (SAR), were already on the scene when additional responders arrived. The dog already had a makeshift catch pole around her neck, but it wasn’t secure, prompting rescuers to use ropes and poles to lift her safely.

Crews first created a loop to secure Coulee’s front and used a second loop to support her rear. The lift took roughly 20 seconds, allowing her to exit the crevice smoothly. Once freed, Coulee was returned to her owner and examined by a
