CONYERS, Ga. — Authorities are still searching for 43-year-old Timothy Shane, a man who spent more than half his life behind bars before escaping police custody Monday morning at Grady Hospital.
According to Ohio's Department Rehabilitation and Correction, Shane was just released from prison there on April 3, 2024, after serving close to 11 years for close to a handful of charges including aggravated robbery and now, after slipping away from a Rockdale County Sheriff’s deputy, he may be heading back.
Shane’s sister, who asked not to be identified for safety reasons, said her brother’s struggles go far beyond the crimes he’s accused of.
“No one is addressing the fact that this person is not just running around stealing cars with a gun. He's mentally ill,” she said.
