After closing its 2025 regular season with a resounding 40-16 win over Nebraska, Iowa football is back in the College Football Playoff rankings.
The Hawkeyes checked in at No. 23 in the rankings released on Dec. 2. Kirk Ferentz's team finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record.
Against Nebraska in the regular season finale, Iowa had a porous rushing defense in the first half, but the Hawkeyes pitched a shutout in the second half. Meanwhile, the offense poured it on. Quarterback Mark Gronowski rushed for two touchdowns and threw for one. Running back Kamari Moulton got into the end zone twice. The Hawkeyes got two of their 40 points thanks to a safety, which was generated by a forced fumble on punt coverage by Karson Sharar.
