MOORHEAD — Youthworks, a non-profit organization that provides services for homeless and housing-challenged young adults, announced on Tuesday, Dec. 2, an initiative to expand transitional housing and supportive services for youth in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
According to organizers, an estimated 400 young people experienced homelessness in the area last year, many without access to safe shelter or trusted adult support.
During a presentation held Tuesday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Youthworks Executive Director Mark Heinert said the organization has completed an agreement to acquire the buildings that currently house the Ecumen Evergreens assisted-living center in Moorhead, which as part of the initiative will be transformed into 25 transitional housing units for youth ages
