Trump’s drug boat attack is a ‘war crime,’ N.J. gov says. ‘It’s a stain on our honor.’

In new criticism against President Donald Trump ’s administration, Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill used her position as a former military member to denounce a recent attack on a suspected drug-smuggling boat in the Caribbean that killed all aboard.

“It looks like it’s a war crime to me, as someone who served,” Sherrill, a Democrat, said during an appearance on “Late Night with Stephen Colbert” on Monday.

Sherrill’s visit to the popular late-night talk show was one of her first nationally televised appearances since claiming the governorship by a 14-point margin last month. She will be sworn in as New Jersey’s 57th governor next month, becoming the second woman in state history to hold the job.
