FORT DODGE, Iowa —

A structure fire in Fort Dodge led to several people and animals displaced.

Fire crews were called just before midnight Monday evening to a reported structure fire at a two-story residence in the 1500 block of 5th Avenue. Crews began assisting multiple residents in exiting the property while also battling the flames.

Seven people and six dogs were displaced as a result of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The fire was caused by an electrical issue in the attic, according to investigators.

The city says a recent campaign to clear snow from fire hydrants made a difference because it gave firefighters quick access to a nearby hydrant.
