Heartrending scenes unfolded in Meath during the funeral service of a beloved school teacher and her newborn baby. ‌

Aoife Bird (née Oates), originally from Co. Waterford but residing with her family in Longwood, Co. Meath, tragically passed away on Wednesday due to a sudden illness, just a day after her newborn daughter Ailbhe died. ‌

Aoife, who taught Spanish, Business and SEN at Ashbourne Community School, was interred at Clonee Cemetery Longwood alongside her cherished daughter Ailbhe, following a Funeral Mass at St Brigid's Church, Boardsmill, Trim, Meath on Tuesday morning. ‌

Mourners were told that Aoife was a "motivated" young educator who served as an "inspiration to her students", and that little Ailbhe is now forever in her arms.
