A Georgia inmate considered “armed and dangerous” who fled from a hospital after attempting suicide ordered an Uber during his escape from police, according to authorities.
Timothy Shane, 52, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta around 8 p.m. on Sunday for a medical evaluation after attempting suicide while in prison, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
In the early hours of Monday morning, Shane escaped on foot, stole an SUV and a handgun, then got in a crash and ditched the vehicle, cops said.
An investigation uncovered that the fugitive then requested an Uber to drop him off at a “residence in south Rockdale,” police said in an update Tuesday morning.
But when police searched the residence, Shane was once again nowhere to be found, authorities added.
