WILLIAMSPORT — A federal prosecutor is using the words of an ISIS sympathizer to support his argument that the inmate who stabbed a federal prison guard in the eye did so in support of a foreign terrorist organization.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur, in a filing Monday in the U.S. Middle District Court, cited a note found in the sock of Abdulraham el Bahnasaway after the Dec. 7, 2020, stabbing in the Allenwood Federal Penitentiary.

Bahnasaway, 27, pleaded guilty Nov. 4 to two counts each of assault on a federal officer, assault with intent to commit murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a prohibited object in prison.

He entered a conditional plea to a charge of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, which in this case is ISIS.
