HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - Henrico County became the first locality in the region to establish an animal cruelty registry after the Board of Supervisors approved it at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The registry will contain the names and relevant information of people convicted of certain felony animal cruelty offenses.
Those convicted will remain on the registry for 15 years and will be removed if there are no other convictions during that period.
Hanover, Chesterfield, and the City of Richmond have expressed interest in creating a public animal cruelty registry, as well.
