NEWPORT, Tenn. - (WVLT) - The Stokely Memorial Library has prepared for a soft reopening after extensive flooding from Helene for more than a year.
Emily Majors, director of the Stokely Memorial Library, said the facility is ready to resume book lending services despite ongoing construction work.
“We are just so excited about being able to have our book collection here and for people to be able to check out books again,” Majors said.
The library sustained significant damage during Helene, with mud covering much of the interior. Most of the saved materials is on shelves and in boxes while some repairs are still needed.
