CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia’s high court has temporarily suspended a judge’s ruling that would have allowed students to attend school with a religious exemption to the state’s school vaccination requirements.
On Tuesday, the court granted a stay of proceedings in a lawsuit brought by families seeking an exemption.
The West Virginia Department of Education had suspended the law last week in response to the judge’s ruling.
However, due to the stay from the state Supreme Court of Appeals, the department has reversed that suspension, reinstating a directive to county boards to not accept religious exemptions.
