MORTON ( 25News Now ) - A car caught fire outside a Morton elementary school on Tuesday about the time that children were let out of school for the day.

The fire reported at 2:49 p.m. was in the pick-up lane in front of Ward Grundy Elementary School on South Fourth Avenue.

A statement from Morton Community Unit School District 709 said bus riders and students awaiting pick-up were moved to the district office across the street.

Staff and Challenge students were also moved to the district office.

School officials said no one in the car when it caught fire, and no one was injured.
