At least four ski hills across Minnesota are opening for the season this week.
The powder is fresh and ready for skiers and snowboarders at Hyland Hills, Afton Alps, Spirit Mountain, and Buena Vista. Those are in addition to Lutsen Mountains, Giants Ridge, Wild Mountain, Andes Towers Hills, and Powder Ridge, all of which opened in November.
Buck Hill and Welch Village also already opened for the season but are temporarily closed this week as crews continue to make snow. Both could reopen their slopes as early as Thursday.
"Over 120 snow guns are running nonstop, stacking up the base we need for a long season," Buck Hill wrote in a Facebook post on Monday. "Stay tuned because our reopening announcement is coming."
It's possible that Mount Kato, Elm Creek and Coffee Mill will open before
