Mayor Buddy Dyer announced plans for a potential multi-billion-dollar development on the site of the former Orlando Sentinel headquarters during the annual State of Downtown event at the Kia Center on Tuesday.
The development plans are set to move forward due to Orlando's visionary and professional stable government, a plan that aligns with a vision for downtown, and strong community engagement.
"A community that in our visits here is incredibly engaged, a community that has, and you can see it through the DTO plan, you can see it through the government, a real sense of a shared vision of a very bright future," said a speaker at the event.
The 20-acre site on Orange Avenue at Colonial has sat empty since the newspaper left it in 2020. The new development could take 20 years to be full
