Amid concerns around privacy and user data triggered by the government mandate of pre-installing the Sanchar Saathi app on phones, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Wednesday ruled out any chances of snooping through the state-backed cybersecurity app.

“Snooping is neither possible nor will it happen with the Sanchar Saathi safety app,” Scindia said suring the Question Hour in the Parliament, adding that the the app is for the protection of the people.

Sanchar Saathi app se “na snooping sambhav hai, na snooping hoga”, the minister said during Question Hour.

The minister also said the government wants to give power to the people in order to help them protect themselves.
