The trial for a man accused of strangling a local TV reporter has been moved back to January.
The five-day trial for Patrick Egan had been scheduled to start Dec. 8. The new trial start date is Jan. 5.
The trial had previously been moved up from Jan. 12 to accommodate the victim.
Egan has been charged with second-degree assault, bias-motivated crimes and harassment for an incident in December 2024 in which police said Egan followed KKCO/KGJT reporter Ja’ronn Alex from near Delta to Grand Junction, shouting words to the effect of “Are you even a U.S. citizen? This is Trump’s America now! I’m a Marine and I took an oath to protect this country from people like you!” at Alex, who is a Hawaiian Pacific Islander, according to court documents.
