A woman was drunk behind the wheel with a 7-year-old child unrestrained in the backseat when she was pulled over on Long Island, police announced on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Paula Gregg-Stanton, 34, of Brooklyn, was driving a 2015 Nissan on Long Beach Road near Tilrose Avenue in Oceanside, when officers saw her failing to stay in her lane at 10:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, according to the Nassau County Police. During the stop, police found a 7-year-old boy sitting in the backseat without a seatbelt.
Gregg-Stanton appeared intoxicated at the scene, according to the police. She was arrested without incident, and the child was released to a family member.
Gregg-Stanton is charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and multiple traffic infractions, police said. She will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
