In the recent by-elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious, winning seven out of the twelve contested wards. The elections took place on November 30, and the results were announced on December 3. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured three seats, while the Indian National Congress and the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) each won one seat.

The BJP's wins included all five reserved wards for women, with notable victories in Dwarka, Vinod Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Greater Kailash, Dichaon Kalan, Shalimar Bagh, and Chandni Chowk. Candidates such as Manisha Devi and Suman Kumar Gupta were among those who claimed victory for the party. Gupta expressed his commitment to addressing local issues, stating, "I will work to resolve the issues relating to traffic jams, sewer, electricity and water."

From the AAP, Rajan Arora, Anil, and Ram Swaroop Kanojia won in Naraina, Mundka, and Dakshin Puri, respectively. AAP's Ram Swaroop credited his win to the party's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, and the support of the public, saying, "I give credit for this win to Arvind Kejriwal, MLA Prem Chauhan and the public."

Despite the wins, AAP alleged electoral malpractice, claiming that the BJP used unfair tactics during the campaign. AAP's Delhi president, Saurabh Bharadwaj, remarked, "The election was close – The Aam Aadmi Party was at 3, and stayed at 3. Even after resorting to foul play, the BJP came down from 9 to 7."

The voter turnout for the by-elections was recorded at 38.51%, which is lower than the 50.47% turnout in the previous MCD elections held in 2022. The State Election Commission ensured a smooth polling process, with no significant incidents reported during the voting. Counting took place at ten designated centres across the city, maintaining strict security protocols.
