Only one ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $90 million jackpot in the Tuesday, Dec. 2 drawing, according to the Mega Millions website .
It was not immediately known where in the Garden State the winning ticket was sold. It is the 26th time the Mega Millions has been won in New Jersey, the third most of any state behind New York and California.
The winner can also choose the estimated $41.9 million cash option over the annuitized payments.
The jackpot had just been been won less than two weeks ago when a lottery player in Georgia won a $983 million jackpot on Nov. 14.
