LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The University of Kentucky received the largest donation in its history to fund a new arts district on campus, according to UK Spokesperson Jay Blanton.
In a press release on UKNow, Blanton said the $150 million donation would help fund the construction of a new College of Fine Arts Building, a several-hundred seat theater and a pavilion with a park.
UK’s Board of Trustees accepted the gift from The Bill Gatton Foundation on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
According to the university’s Office of the President website , UK is hoping to complete construction by 2030, with the design and planning process already underway.
