Most stores close early: To allow supermarket staff the chance to get home and spend time with their families, or make preparations of their own, every major chain will be reducing its operating hours on December 24.

Christmas closure means more bargains: With some stores not reopening until December 27, lots of items could potentially go out of date if left on shop shelves over Christmas. This means that many items could end up being reduced to clear with yellow stickers.
