BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The unofficial beginning to Christmas and holiday decorating is when the turkey has been eaten, although for some families, the Christmas tree is up by Thanksgiving Day.

Before setting up the decorations, keep in mind the following, depending on which décor you will be setting up in your winter wonderland.

Christmas tree

Many artificial trees are fire-resistant. Read your trees specific fire protection on the packaging or set up guide information inside the box. If you plan to buy a real tree, fresh trees are less of a fire hazard than a dry tree. Keep trees of any kind away from fireplaces, radiators, and other sources of heat.

Lights
