Alabama football moved up a spot in the College Football Playoff rankings , released on Tuesday. After beating Auburn on the road Saturday, the Crimson Tide leapfrogged Notre Dame and moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in the latest CFP rankings.

Alabama sat one spot behind Oklahoma, which beat the Tide in Tuscaloosa. If the current rankings held, Alabama would travel to Norman for a first-round playoff game.

The Crimson Tide struggled through a win against Auburn on Saturday, but pulled out a 27-20 victory in one of the toughest environments in college football. UA scored on a gutsy fourth-down call late in the fourth quarter, before Bray Hubbard forced a fumble to end the Tigers’ last meaningful chance at tying or pulling ahead.
