OMAHA, Neb. —
The Omaha Police Department reports it has seized 1,194 guns since the start of 2025.
The reporting shows a little less than half of those have been connected to crimes.
The police department said stolen guns are often used to commit many crimes by multiple suspects.
Lt. Steve Fornoff walked KETV through the life of a stolen gun.
"It started off in April of 2019," Fornoff said.
Seven months, six shootings, five shootings, three victims injured, and Lt. Fornoff said it was all connected to one stolen gun.
"The gun was stolen during a home burglary in Bellevue," Fornoff said.
Fornoff said it was a 9 millimeter handgun, and the next time it popped up was during the 2019 shooting after Native Omaha days.
