Taegan Russo is almost always the smallest player on the court.

“Yeah, pretty much,” Russo said with a laugh.

At 5 feet 6, 150 pounds, Russo, a sophomore guard at Shenango, is actually a little bigger than he was as a freshman when he was only 5-5, 130.

But Russo is an example of good things coming in small packages. Russo may be one of the shortest starters in the WPIAL, but few players of any size can shoot the ball like he can.

After coming off the bench last season, Russo made his first career starts over the weekend, and he certainly made the most of the opportunities. Russo is averaging 25 points per game after pumping in a total of 50 points in wins against Franklin and Grove City.
