For a couple of schools that reside almost halfway across the state from each other — it’s a 110-mile drive from Clairton’s Tyler Boyd Stadium to Bishop Guilfoyle Academy in Altoona, to be exact — the Bears and Marauders sure are getting to know each other well.

On the one hand, it has been nine years since they last met, when Bishop Guilfoyle polished off its state championship three-peat by shutting out Clairton 17-0 in the 2016 PIAA Class 1A final. Two years prior, the teams waged an all-time classic, with the Bears seeking their fifth state title in a six-year span — only for the Marauders to come out on top with a late goal-line stand for a 19-18 win.
