The U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities are searching the water off Newburyport, Massachusetts, after a person was seen going under the water on Wednesday morning.

The Coast Guard said it received a notification at 7:57 a.m. Wednesday of a person in the water off the coast of Newburyport. The person's boat was reportedly tied up at a dock when it became loose and the person entered the water in an attempt to recover it. A witness said they saw the person yelling before going underwater.

Crews arrived at the scene at 8:04 a.m. and were continuing to search the water for the person as of 9:45 a.m.
