The 2026 dog licensing season started Monday, and county officials are encouraging all pet owners to make sure their favorite pooch is legal.
“Don’t drop the ball on your furry friends. Buy your dog license today,” Lucas County Auditor Katie Moline said.
There are three ways to register your dog: online through the auditor’s dog licensing portal at co.lucas.oh.us/2816/Dog-License; by mail directly to the auditor’s office; or in-person at specific locations, including all Toledo-Lucas County Library branches.
A one-year license costs $25, a three-year license is $75, and a permanent license for $250 is good for the life of the dog.
All dogs over 3 months old must wear a tag with a valid license number at all times. People have until Jan. 31 to register their dog for 2026.
