North Pole — The North Pole High School wrestling team sent their graduating class out in style on Nov. 25, dominating the visiting West Valley Wolfpack 51-21 in a dual meet. Before the first whistle blew, the Patriots honored their seniors in a pre-match ceremony, marking the final home dual meet for 13 wrestlers.
The dual kicked off at 103 pounds, where North Pole junior Kooper Matteson set the tone immediately. Matteson secured a commanding 17-1 technical fall over Tim Lind, and with a forfeit victory for freshman Drew Bush at 112 pounds, the Patriots jumped out to an early 11-0 lead.
The 119-pound bout was moved to the end of the night, so the action jumped to 125 pounds where West Valley found its footing. Jareth Finney put the Wolfpack on the board with a hard-fought 7-2 decision
