Ambulance workers in Liverpool and across the North West have started another two-day strike in a row over pay. Staff who train 999 call handlers are back on the picket lines this week in a dispute over "lost pay", according to a trade union.
UNISON said strike action is taking place over the withdrawal of a £3,000 recruitment and retention payment. The union argues the workers lost the money without proper consultation, and management has refused to negotiate to find a resolution. UNISON says the removal of the payment is worsening the service’s ability to retain and recruit staff at a time when turnover is high.
