A man was charged after two police officers were attacked. Officers from Merseyside Police received a report about suspicious activity at an address in Huyton last night (Tuesday December 2).

When they arrived , a man was spotted and they chased him on foot to Chester Walk. As they tried to detain him , he stamped on the head, body and arms of a policeman, leaving marks and cuts, and pushed a policewoman to the floor and leaned on her.

George Patrick Cummins, 23 years, of Adswood Road, Huyton , was arrested and later charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on We
