PAWTUCKET – Rhode Island’s largest Thanksgiving Day road race got a whole lot bigger in its debut at Centreville Bank Stadium.

The Rhode Island Family Turkey Trot 5K demolished its two-year-old record for the most participants in its 3.1-mile race last Thursday morning, as 2,446 runners and walkers crossed the finish line inside the home of the second-year Rhode Island FC professional soccer team.

That turnout shattered the record by more than 1,000 runners – in 2023, the event attracted 1,435 participants, and last year’s 5K drew 1,394.

The area’s running community was in full force for this 11th annual event, and Run Rhody, which is one of the region’s largest running events companies, helped roll out the red carpet for it.
