Plans to turn a former Darlington school's boarding house into a family home have been approved.
It used to be a boarding house for Polam Hall, a school in Darlington which closed its boarding facilities in 2020 after a lack of take-up from incoming pupils.
The school had 15 boarders in 2019, but 12 of those left in the following July, which would have left just three students using the service.
The disused property on Polam Road will be converted into a six-bedroom family dwelling by Sapphire Developments (NE) Ltd.
Changes will include internal reconfiguration and the demolition of a dilapidated rear outhouse and, although work began in January 2025, planning permission has been given by the Borough Council.
Plans were approved in November. (Image: THE NORTHERN ECHO)
