JASPER COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - A female bald eagle is being treated for her injuries after being saved from the middle of the road Tuesday afternoon.
Jasper County Deputy Chad Coleman called in the injured bird around 2 p.m. and Sgt. Corey Van Kooten arrived to assist.
The eagle tried to fly away but was unable to do so.
Deputies called Iowa Bird Rehabilitation and staff arrived to help the deputies capture the eagle.
IBR took the bird to Saving Our Avian Resources for treatment of possible internal injuries.
Bald eagles are protected under multiple federal laws, with fines of over $20,000 for harassing, killing or wounding an eagle.
