LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Dennis Whaley, the man convicted of killing two people in Lansing last year, has been sentenced to more than three decades in prison.
Judge Wanda Stokes sentenced Whaley to a minimum of 35 years and four months in prison for the killing of Christine Cambric and Jason McKenzie.
Cambric was Whaley’s on-again-off-again girlfriend. Prosecutors claimed Whaley, 53, “executed” her and McKenzie, her cousin, because of jealousy. Authorities say he used an “AR-style rifle” in the shooting.
Cambric and McKenzie were not armed.
The shooting happened on April 18, 2023 on Woodrow Avenue and authorities arrested Whaley several days later.
He was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder earlier this year.
