A tow-truck driver is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 401 Wednesday morning.
Just after 7 a.m., emergency crews were called to the area of Hwy. 401 near Oxford Road 3 for reports someone had been hit by a vehicle.
"Investigation determined that the individual was a tow-truck operator that was assisting a stranded motorist on the side of the road when they were struck and killed by an unknown vehicle," Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter.
"To all family members and friends that are affected by this tragedy, I just want to extend my deepest and sincerest condolences. You're in our thoughts," Sanchuk said.
